What’s On in Derbyshire for Kids May Half Term 2026

May half-term in Derbyshire is always a bit of a gamble. One minute you’re out in the sun, and the next you’re grabbing your winter coat as the rain pours down.

Instead of just another list of ideas, this guide shares real events happening across Derbyshire during May half term and the bank holiday weekend.

Some events are big days out, while others are smaller hidden gems. Some will sell out, and others might appear on Facebook just a day or two before they happen, which is pretty typical for local family events here.

At the moment, Kimi is after anything with climbing, reptiles, or something a bit wild. Eliza is hoping for fairies, dinosaurs, goats, and cake, ideally all at the same time if she can get it.
