Abbie Coleman – Founder of Ey-Up Derbyshire
If you’ve ever searched “what’s on for kids in Derbyshire” and ended up juggling Facebook posts, outdated listings and half-finished event pages, you’ll understand exactly why Ey-Up Derbyshire exists.
I’m Abbie Coleman, a Derbyshire mum of two and the founder of Ey‑Up Derbyshire — a local family platform created to help parents quickly and easily find what’s on for kids, without the overwhelm.
Why I Founded Ey-Up Derbyshire
Like many mums, I found that once you have children, planning days out becomes work.
You want to know:
- What’s actually on this week
- What’s free or affordable
- What’s close enough to be realistic
- What other families genuinely recommend
Instead, everything felt scattered — spread across Facebook groups, venue pages, old blog posts and last-minute stories that disappear before you can plan around them.
Ey-Up Derbyshire was created to fix that.
The idea was simple:
👉 one clear place to find what’s on
👉 practical info you can actually plan with
👉 written by a local mum, for local families
No clickbait. No fluff. Just genuinely useful content.
My Background
Before Ey-Up, I founded MMB Magazine, supporting working mums with honest, practical content around family life, careers and returning to work.
Over time, one thing became obvious:
local content works best when it’s written by someone who actually lives there.
As a Derbyshire mum, I know:
- which days out are worth the effort
- which events sell out fast
- which ones look great online but are stressful in reality
That lived experience shapes everything we publish on Ey-Up.
What Ey-Up Is (and Isn’t)
Ey-Up is:
✔ A local family events and days-out platform
✔ Run by mums who live in the area
✔ Focused on clarity, honesty and usefulness
Ey-Up is not:
✖ A faceless listings site
✖ A copy-and-paste events calendar
✖ Influencer content without substance
Everything is written with busy mums in mind — especially those thinking “Is this actually worth doing with kids?”
